Senior Engineer – Front End design & development

Spirit AI is building a tool to empower community managers in novel ways – an Ally to assist in nourishing communities to their fullest. Ally uses the latest advancements in machine learning to boil down the millions of lines of text communication in a community to the interactions that help and hurt the growth of the community.

As Senior Engineer, you will be working within the Ally team. The Senior Frontend Engineer role is responsible for both the design and the development of the UI, front/back end integration, data visualisation, analysis and documentation, defect fixing, presenting work to clients etc. You should be an effective communicator and should be able to work as part of a diverse team as well as independently. Since you'll touch different areas of the code, you should be aware of the larger context of the solution. You should be able to understand the business value of your work and should be able to prioritise tasks for maximum impact.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for continued development, new features and enhancements of Ally, from requests fed by the client
• Documentation, estimates, specifications where necessary for use by internal teams
• Ensure all code is written to a high standard for high performance and scalability; unit testing to ensure it produces the desirable results and perform debugging when necessary
• Fixing client-submitted defects

Requirements/Skills

• Minimum 5 years’ application UI development experience
• HTML5, JavaScript, ReactJS, CSS, SaaS, Babl, Bootstrap 4, Yarn
• Ability to work with designers along with their UI/UX designs to create working prototypes that match presentation and functionality
• Experience with single page web applications
• Ability to recognize global patterns for reuse, and structuring them accordingly to implement them anywhere with little additional code
• Detail-oriented and excellent concentration ability
• Works effectively within an Agile framework, adhering to agile best practices and processes
• Nice to have: Sketch & Photoshop
